XEKAMAN 1 HYDROPOWER PLANT SUCCESSFULLY JOINS VIETNAM’S GRID

On August 25, 2016, Unit 1 of Xekaman 1 Hydropower Plant successfully joined Vietnam’s Grid

Unit 1 of Xekaman 1 Hydropower Plant with design capacity of  145MW out of 326MW of Xekaman 1 HPP has been officially put into operation and joined the Vietnam’s Grid via 190km transmission system from 230kV switchyard of Xekaman 1 Hydropower Plant (Attapeu, Laos) to Pleiku 2 substation (Vietnam).

Xekaman 1 HPP has installation capacity of 326 MW including Xekaman 1 Hydropower Plant (290MW) vaf Xekaman XanXay (36MW) invested by Xekaman 1 Power Company Limited – Viet Lao Power Joint Stock Company.

Song Da Corporation is the EPC General Contractor of Xekaman 1 HPP (including Xekaman 1 Hydropower Plant and Muong San Say Hydropower Plant) and the 230kV transmission line from Xekaman 1 Hydropower Plant to Bo Y – Kon Tum border gate.

ANDRITZ Hydro – Republic of Austria (AH) is the supplier of electro – mechanical equipments to Xekaman 1 HPP.

Xekaman 1 HPP with total installation capacity of 326MW and total investment cost of USD 539,46 million is the biggest ever HPP invested in Laos by one vietnamese Company. Once operational, the Project will generate 1,3 billion kwh/year,of which, 90% (about 1,2 billion kwh/year) will be delivered to Vietnam’s Grid, remaining 10% will meet domestic consumption of Laos.

As planned, Unit 2 of Xekaman 1 Hydropower Plant will join the Grid in October, 2016 and Xekaman XanXay Hydropower Plant will be operational in August, 2017.
