NDĐT- In April 1 afternoon, at the headquarters of the Government of Laos, Xekaman 1 Power Co., Ltd. presented a grant of US $ 30,000 for the Lao Government to deal with the Covid-19 epidemic. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Somdi Duongdi - Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister of Laos, Mr. Bounkong Sihavong - Health Minister of Laos, Representative of Vietnam Embassy in Laos, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai - First Secretary attended the event.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Laos, Mr. Somdi Duongdi said that the Lao Government recognized and appreciated the support of the Company and pledged to effectively use this money for the prevention and control of Covid-19 pandemic. Given that Vietnam is also facing many difficulties due to the complicated situation of the epidemic, however, the Government and people of Vietnam always pay attention to and support Laos in difficult moments.
After announcing the latest policies of the Lao Government on the prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemic, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Laos also suggested that the Company's leaders should continue to effectively lead its operation as well as ensure the health and life of all the officials and employees.
Mr. Somdi Duongdi also hoped that in the coming time, with qualifications and experience in field of health, Vietnam would continue to support and assist Laos in the prevention and control of the Covid- 19, and believed that the Government of Vietnam will soon control the pandemic.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dinh Ngoc Diep, Chief Representative of Viet Lao Power Joint Stock Company (Viet Lao Power) in Lao PDR, representing Xekaman 1 Power Company Limited - a subsidiary of Viet Lao Power, stressed that seeing its responsibility in sharing the difficulties that the people of Laos is facing, the Company decided to support Laos with US $30,000 for the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Thanks for Government's appreciation for the outstanding achievements contributing to the socio-economic development of Laos in 2019 of Viet Lao Power in general and Xekaman 1 Power Co., Ltd. in particular, Mr. Dinh Ngoc Diep said that , this is both an honor and a responsibility to the company. The support this time is not a huge amount, but it shows the spirit and sense of responsibility of the Company in joining hands with the Government and the people of Laos to solve difficult problems in social life.
Believing that, under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Democratic Party and the strict guidance of the Government, Laos will soon control the Covid-19 epidemic. At once, Mr. Dinh Ngoc Diep also hoped that the Lao business community and people would join hands to contribute a part of their efforts and money to effectively deal with the Covid-19 pandemic with the Lao Government.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, said that this is the first Vietnamese enterprise investing, manufacturing and trading in Laos to support and help Laos. The fact that Vietnamese enterprises, which is investing and doing business in Laos, supports the Government of Laos, joining efforts in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic is very practical and timely activities. These actions have partly helped Laos to reduce the difficult in dealing with the disease and thereby have contributed to fostering great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries Vietnam and Laos. It is known that currently a number of Vietnamese businesses in Laos are preparing plans to provide Lao Government with some medical protective equipment.
Viet Lao Power, established in 2003, is investing in construction of four hydroelectric plants and four electrical transmission line projects in Laos, with a total installed capacity of 642 MW and total investment of approximately US $1,162 billion. The total amount of electricity generated is 2.50 billion kWh/ year on average and is consumed in Vietnam. As a subsidiary of Viet Lao Power, Xekaman 1 Power Co., Ltd. is implementing Xekaman1 Hydropower Project in Attapeu Province, southern Laos with installed capacity of 322 MW and total investment of nearly US $540 million. In recent years, the company has made a lot of respectable contributions to Lao PDR budgets, the electricity produced is sent to Vietnam strictly in accordance with the Agreement on cooperation and development of energy projects and mines between the two governments of Vietnam and Laos.
